Wedding Band Club

It has long been a point of humour that once a man gets married, he meets many available women that did not seem to want to give him the time of day when he was single.  Naturally most married men will not do anything with that information but keep noticing it happen and laugh about it.

There are two reasons why this phenomenon occurs to married men, older men and family members.  The first reason is because women are more comfortable with these people as they are much less likely to be interested in them for intimate reasons.  They can speak to a married man, an older family friend or a family member and not feel any ulterior motive from them.  This is incredibly comforting to women who may often question the intentions of people and wonder what they want from them.

The Power of the Wedding Band

The second reason we humorously call the “Wedding Band Club.”  A wedding band symbolises a person’s long-term commitment to another person.  That part is obvious enough.  What is not so obvious is the social proof this provides. Social Proof is evidence that other people feel that someone is trustworthy or reliable. It is a very powerful indicator to others that the person in question has the ability to satisfy the needs of people just like them.

For someone to be formally married means that another person deemed them responsible enough to make the commitment to them.  It also means that at least two other persons of authority, a priest, minister, judge AND the government that gave them the marriage license agreed.

While this certainly does not guarantee that the person getting married is responsible, mature or even intends to stay in the marriage long-term, it is substantial social proof that several people thought they might be.

Certain professions have used social proof for years as a means of showing their honesty and respectability.  Real estate agents are famous for having client testimonials in their advertising to show that they are reliable and trustworthy.  Insurance agents, Financial Advisers and Car Salespeople have also used this technique with great success.

Using Social Proof

It has never been easier to use the Wedding Band Club technique.  In addition to having written testimonials praising you on a website and advertising material, having personal notes of thanks on Social Media and even videos with happy clients is incredibly effective at giving social proof that you are trustworthy and a great person to work with.

Even if you are not married, using this technique with actual happy clients can take your business to soaring levels of success very quickly.
