This Will Help You Stop Procrastinating

We have all had the experience of being forced to do something we do not want to do, or of dreading something we had to do but did not want to.  This can occur at work, in school or in a situation where we are asked to do something that we do not particularly like to do.

If we have to do these things right away, often we will do them as well as necessary but not with any kind of thoroughness beyond what is necessary to complete them.  On the other hand, if it is up to us to do these things when we can, we very often will procrastinate because they are not appealing to us.  This can lead us and others to think that we are lazy.  Nothing could be further from the truth.

Laziness is a Lack of Passion

The reason we procrastinate is because we do not have a passion for the thing that we are avoiding.  That may seem obvious and it is, but we can use this information to direct our efforts to things we DO like to do as much as possible.

Most people are not in fact lazy.  When they are doing an activity they like, they seem to have unlimited energy and enthusiasm for the subject or activity.  It can be a sport, hobby, team or their children and they light up and passionately regale us vast amounts of information about it.

So, rather than being lazy and procrastinators, whenever possible we are merely striving to do the things that we are passionate about.  Then, rather than avoiding doing things, we will not only look forward to them, but seek them out and do them with energy and vigour.
