Use This Technique That the Wealthy Use to Deal with Anything

When something occurs, particularly something that is very distressing, very often people will react with extreme emotion.  It could be terror or anger, but it is usually a reaction.  Successful people do something different when difficult circumstances occur.  Firstly, they do their best to remain calm, even if it is an emotional situation.

Respond Instead of React

Then, instead of emotionally reacting, they respond.  They may not always be calm about it, as the situation may require extreme action, but they tend to respond rather than react.  The difference between the two can make a huge difference in how you live your life and the difficulties you will encounter and create for yourself.

Responding versus Reacting

A simple example is something that happens every day.  When we are driving, especially at busy times, there are going to be slowdowns, traffic jams, accidents and aggressive drivers.  If we react, we will get upset then angry that we are stuck and possibly going to be late.  We may begin to drive more aggressively, getting more and more upset as we are unable to change the situation and we are stuck.

How to Respond

If instead we respond, we can remain calm, and more importantly in control of the situation, rather than feeling helpless.  We will logically know that the next time we make that trip, we need to give ourselves more time to be punctual or even take a new route.  This can easily be done by consulting our GPS or phone mapping system to see the best route and the time it will take.  These programs can be given the arrival time that you desire and will tell you the best route and time to leave, no calculations necessary.

Automobile University

If you really want to use a success technique that wealthy people use, you can attend what the great Zig Ziglar called Automobile University.  What this means is you can listen to audio books, courses or podcasts while you drive so that you learn while you are driving.  Listening for an hour a day while you drive will allow to read a book a week on average, over 50 books per year, while you are doing nothing in your car!

Responding accordingly allows us to remain more in control of situations, even if they are a surprise or shock, and can help us overcome more obstacles on the road to success.
